Captain Walter Clarkson Mumford served in the Liverpool Regiment and Irish guards during World War 1. He was awarded the Military Cross during the war and he had a mail correspondence with Rudyard Kipling during the war. There's plenty of information on him online.

The disk is made of silver. I suppose it's possible someone just engraved his name on a silver disk because he was well known, but the aging on the silver and the style of engraving leads me to believe it is original. Bidders can decide for themselves.
