It looks like he also took part in the Anglo-Boer War and was entitled to a QSA medal and a KSA medal.
These are missing unfortunately.
He was in the 21st Coy. 2nd Battn. Imperial Yeomanry. (Reg. no. 1797)
In August 1900 he joined the Cape Mounted Police Dist.2. (reg. no. 893)
During World War One he was in the 5th South African Mounted Rifles (P.F.Staff).
5th S.A.M.R. were formed from the Cape Mounted Police and were based in Kimberley.
In 1919 there is a mention of him being awarded the Permanent Forces Of The Empire Beyond The Seas LSGC Medal in the National Archives.
It says ED Walley but I am pretty sure that it is him.
In 1921 there is mention of him being in No.14 Mil. District Worcester as a Sergt. Major Instructor.
He retired from the SA Permanent Force in 1926 with the rank of Lieutenant and was placed on the Reserve Of Officers.
He volunteered for service during World War Two and was in the Central Army Training Corps (C.A.T.D.)
He was discharged in 1944.
He was entitled to the War Medal 1939-45 and to the Africa Service Medal.
These are also missing unfortunately.
