WW1 - U.S. Army 'Mess-Kit Frying Pan/Plate' (R.I.A.)

This early, original, aluminium WW1 army 'mess-kit frying pan & lid/plate' features an oval frying pan with a fold-out iron handle, and a lid that also functions as a plate. The set is in great condition, the lid snaps shut and the handle functions well. The iron handle is stamped 'U.S.' with the date '1914' and 'R.I.A.' for the makers 'Rock Island Arsenal', as well as other marks around it '52, M, 67'. The folded pan measures 22,5cm x 17cm x 4,5cm, and 44cm with handle.

NOTE: This is part of a small collection of military items that I'll be listing, that belonged to a 'Capt. R.J. Truter' who served in the 'Army Service Corps' during the Boer War and the 'Kings Royal Rifles' in WW1.
