WW11 - 1940/1 Legitimus Collins & Co Adeinus Machete No 1250 " McBRINE " with leather scabbard. length 53cm, totall weight1025gsm. Blade marked " 1940 ', Scabbard marked " 1941".

The index of Daniel Edward Henry's book " Collins Machete & Bowies " lists the Model 1250 as: Canadian Army "Knife, Bush," 15 inch blade, machete, drop point - 1940. MILITARY MACHETES -- World War II - 1965. He states that "In Canada the Army expansion, particularly of morotized units, caused a great need for "matchets" or "KNIFE, (KNIVES) BUSH"; one of them was to be carried on each tank and vehicle in planned offensive actions in Europe and elsewhere. The British Army needed all it had and could get, and because they were no longer available for export to Canada, the Canadian Army awarded a contract to The Collins Company in 1940 for an unknown number of the "KNIFE, BUSH" models, which were assigned model No. 1250 by Collins.". "Machets" was the British term for the bush knives
