A Group of Three Second World War Medals to Miss Elaine Edna Rawlinson, a Senior Professional Nurse in the South African Medical Nursing Services.
All three impressed: “309293 E.E. Rawlinson”

The sale is accompanied by 21 pages of documentation copied from the archives.
From these it can be gathered that Rawlinson attested in 1942 at the age of 25. Before the war she has been a Dental Nurse with a practice in Pietermaritzburg. He first posting was with the Springfield Military Hospital in Durban. In October 1944 she was sent to Egypt serving at the 101 SA Special Hospital and then at the No. 5 SA General Hospital. Her term oversees ended early in 1946 and on returning to South Africa she served a few more month with Springfield Military Hospital before being discharge in August 1946 to care for her ailing mother.
