An original World War Two Died on Service memorial plaque, issued in remembrance of 65365 Corporal C. van Heerden, who served with the 1st Reserve Brigade.

These plaques were officially issued to commemorate servicemen who lost their lives while on active service during the Second World War. Each plaque is individually named, making every example unique and directly linked to the soldier it honours.

This plaque bears the service number and rank Kpl (Corporal), along with the name C. van Heerden, preserving the personal identity of the fallen serviceman. Items of this nature represent a deeply moving and tangible connection to South Africas wartime history and sacrifice.
