WW2 - Engraved Brass 'North Africa Campaign' Souvenir Tankard
This early, WW2, solid brass tankard was made from brass salvaged from the battlefields, and is beautifully engraved with maps, scenes (soldiers, tanks, ships, palm trees etc.) and dates surrounding the 'North African Campaign', starting in Morocco on the 8th of November 1942 and ending on the 13th of May 1943. It is also inscribed on the side with 'BRASS USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THIS TANKARD WAS SALVAGED FROM THE BATTLEFIELDS OF NORTH AFRICA'. The mug is in excellent condition with a lovely, polished brass patina, and stands 12,2cm high, measures 12,5cm at its widest (with handle), has a base diameter of 9cm and weighs 411g.
