An EXCELLENT example of Second World War, 1930s German Gebirgsjäger 'Edelweiss' Sleeve Insignia Type I. This piece appears to be in a VF state , with detailed Relief on  obverse. All insignia present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Material appears in good order.

A piece such as this, would have been worn on the upper Sleeve portion by members of the German Army's Mountain Troop Divisions ( Gebirgsjäger).

This variant appears with the distinctive hand embroidered detailed Relief - and original felt backing. Later iterations were subject to machine production upon wool blend fieldress material.
