After the Second World War, nothing containing images of the 1933-1945 National Socialist regime could be displayed in Germany. The exception to this was the public wearing of any WW2 Iron Cross. This was changed in 1957, when all WW2 Iron Crosses were reissued with the traditional oak leaf replacing the National Socialist symbol.
