An EXCELLENT example of an ORIGINAL 1945 Bi-Lingual (English/Afrikaans) New Year Chocolate Tin ; as issued by the South African Committee for Gifts & Comforts to Troops serving abroad. The Large Tin displays the Effigies of Field-Marshall/ South African Prime Minister Jan Smuts & his wife Isie Smuts , alongside a personal message expressing gratitude to the Servicemen and women. The Distinctive Springbok surmounting the "V" for Victory symbol is displayed prominently.

The original Chocolate contents are no longer present, however, the Tin remains in a presentable and aesthetically pleasing state - despite age related wear.

The ideal addition to any Second World War (1939-45) South African Militaria memorabilia collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a genuine period piece for their private assortment.
