WW2 - 'POW/Trench Art' Bone Brooch

 

This early 'Prisoner of War' brooch resembling a badge of the South African 'Union Defence Forces' general service cap badge, which was worn between 1940 and 1945, has been hand carved out of bone. The small catch to hold the pin on the back is missing, otherwise it's in excellent condition, with no damage to the carving. The brooch measures 3cm in diameter, with a thickness of 0,5cm.
