British War medal 1939/45 and Africa Service medal both officially impressed F46548 P.A. STEVENSON rare to a women officer Paule Andrée Stevenson attested for service in the 2nd World War on 15 August 1940. Although only awarded two medals she did see service in The Middle East SAAF Admin, but after the qualifing date for the Africa Star.

Headquarters Mediterranean, only proceeding “up North” on 29 May 1945 too late to qualify for any campaign stars. Her service is remarkable as she was already a member of the Women’s Aviation Association in April 1939. The association was absorbed into the Woman’s Auxiliary Air Force when the unit was formed on 1st June 1940 and undertook all duties possible from that of artisan to manning searchlights. In November 1940 she was taken off Officers Course for special duty. She finally completed her officers course in June 1941.

She held a number of responsible positions such as Camp Commandant of 44 Air School and OC details Secret Registry at RAF Stations Congella.

Inculded is a engraved silver bracelet presented to her at RAF base Congella and her two ID Discs and her RAF Pass card with photo of Stevenson in Uniform.
