Leather components appear supple , yet should be handled with care due to general age. Structural integrity appears in good order & item is complete w/ all fastening buckles. Some degree of surface wear may be noted throughout ( frictional abrasions etc.). Stitching is largely complete, save for a few locations - in which wear has occurred from excessive handling. Item is Second-Hand.

An EXCELLENT example of a WW2 , South African UDF Officer's Private-Purchase Leather Greatcoat/ Bedroll Carry-All. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state of preservation, with components and fittings on obverse & reverse. All necessary parts appear present and function when engaged. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Leather remains durable & supple - however, will display areas of wear / scuff marks. Piece should be handled with care , as elements may be rendered delicate from age-related rigours. Harness suspension system is intact - with both full-length retention straps and Metallic buckles. Integral carry-handle is intact , but will display a degree of wear to reinforced stitching panels. Structural integrity of assemblage is in good standard order - given age and construction materials.
This piece would have been utilised by members of the Union Defence Force, most likely Commissioned Officer's - as part of their personal kit assemblage when conducting field duties. A non-standard issue item , that would have been obtained by means of Private-Purchase.
