Rare LARGE WWII 1940 chocolate tin; "The South African Gifts & Comfort committee" featuring the head of Jan Smuts
These tins -filled with chocolate- were sent to the poor soliders from South Africa serving in the Second Worrld War as a Christmas present- iwith the message: "We rely on you and are grateful' in both English and Afrikaans. Heartbreaking.
OVERALL VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION with age-related wear and scratches, but no rust (as per photos)
