Provenance:
This flag is unique as it came from a member of the House of Representatives named Hattori Sakiichi (who died on June 2, 1947). At the end of the war he was instrumental in getting a school in Ise Bay re-opened and served as the principal until his death. The top of the flag reads HOUKOKU (Loyal to the empire). The right side reads KI YUU KEN (I pray for your bravery and health) and YAMADA MOTOAKI KUN (The name of the soldier). The left side reads DAIGISHI HATTORI SAKIICHI (House of Representatives Hattori Sakiichi). The sun disc in the center is a seperate piece and is not silkscreened. The tabs are on the left side which again makes the flag unusual as they are usually on the right side. The condition of the flag is great. There are some scattered small holes but nothing that distracts from the beauty or character of the flag. The material feels like rayon silk. The winning bidder will be more than pleased with it as it is an unusual and fantastic piece of history. It measures 32 inches x 28.5 inches. Guaranteed original as all my auctions are.
This flag is from my own collection but unfortunately I have to let it go. This is a unique item and a very nice collectable!
