We believe using a chip is a much better solution when compared with flashing your DVD drives firmware. Here is some of our reasoning behind it. Most of the chips coming over the next 12-months are going to require that your DVD's firmware be intact. So when a chip comes onto the market that has features not available from the firmware hack, a customer who has had his drive flashed will have to pay someone to have it reverted back to its original state before a chip can be installed. NME v1.2 is a universal solution for ALL currently available XBox360 Consoles on the market. Forget crazy dual mods with 30+ wires or even bricking your DVD drive by flashing corrupt/wrong firmware files. Your original firmware stays untouched and intact at any time when using the NME v1.2. There is no need for any firmware-reading or flashing.
The NME v1.2 auto detects the inserted media, if the inserted media is a backup the NME-360 v1.2 injects the necessary information to the DVD drive enabling it to boot smoothly ahead. If the media is an original game, or anything else, which doesn’t require any further action of the chip, then it simply falls asleep so there is no need for an external switches whatsoever. This way it can not be detected online when you play an original online game. There is another 360 chip on the market now too. It’s called the Globe 360 and has similar features to the NME, but does cost about R100 more. The one thing that has held us off stocking the Globe 360 right away are the reports about how hard they are to install. And since the new NME-360 v1.2 can support these new Hitachi 78 drives, we think NME would be a much better choice for installers.
