Almost all Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 hardware issues can be traced to bad solder connections. We specialize in reballing BGA platforms. For those unfamiliar with this, BGA is short for ball grid array. This is a chip specific grid pattern of hundreds sometimes thousands of solder balls. These solder balls electrically connect large computer chips to their circuit boards.
Through hours of web browsing and gaming these connections undergo many heating and cooling cycles which creates stress. This stress leads to inevitable hairline fractures and bridging. This is what causes the "Red Ring of Death" on the Xbox 360 and the "Yellow Light of Death" on the Playstation 3 along with a variety of other symptoms. This also causes computer hardware failure. We offer a professional reflowing and reballing service which alleviates these issues.
What is re-balling you ask?
Re-balling is a cost effective method to repair the GPU (80% of the time, light of death errors is caused by a fractured solder joint under the GPU).
Procedure:
Warranty for this repair?
6 months or 180 business days from job completion. Best available repair solution in South Africa
What don't you do?
We don't do the 12v fan mod, fan shroud modification, drill holes through the console chassis for the x-clamp modification, towel trick method, use a heat gun to 'reflow' the motherboard or use any $10 'repair guides' as popularised on the Internet. These methods either don't work at all, work temporarily or damage the motherboard further.
What if I had it repaired before at a repair shop or a friend?
50/50 chance that the re-ball technique will restore the functionality to the console, due the above mentioned repair techniques. The choice is yours at the end of the day!
What if the console cannot be fixed?
There is a 98% chance that a console can be fixed. The remaining 2% of non-fixable motherboards are due to dead processor pads, damaged surrounding capacitors; processor or tracks. In that case, you're better off buying a new or reconditioned console. We charge a R150,00 handling fee for non-fixable units.
Turn-around time?
Purchasing this service is booking your console in and adding it to the schedule. Ideally, the booked-in time is a maximum of 4 business days. The actual repair and testing is 2 business days.
