I bought the item from Takealot for the 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio jack adapter and don't need the actual headset adapter. The headset adapter and USB cable have never been used. There's a 6 month warranty which will be honoured by the Takealot (see the standard warranty terms and conditions). Microsoft may offer an extended warranty for an additional 6 months. Item was bought in mid April 2016.
