This is the 2nd generation conversion kit and its revolutionary technology has made this ballast much smaller in size, and easier to install. The first generation (known as the regular ballast) was invented for more than a decade ago. This invention provided drivers a whole new experience. However, the first gen was less than perfect as the ballast size was often found to be too large to fit. After a few years of re-modeling, the 2nd gen ballast came out with an igniter that separates from the standard ballast which helped reduce its size by more than half. Defective rate also reduced to only 2-3% as they mechanized all the parts. As the name implies, the electrical input and output runs much smoother due to the new mechanics developed. The electrical stability also further reduces the defective rate where hundreds of ballasts were tested finding none to be defective. For hot-re-strike, it takes several seconds to stabilization; for pulse-start, it takes 10-20 seconds.
Extremely long life: In practical terms, the life span of the bulb is equal to that of the car. Service life is at least 3000 hours, greatly above total hours of an automobile during normal night, which means that the bulb need only be replaced in exceptional cases.
