This cable is designed specifically for quick and easy programming of the following Yaesu radios: FT-100, FT-100D, FT-817, FT-817ND, FT-857, FT-857D, FT-897, FT-897D, etc. An external power supply is not required. Simply hook it up to USB port. The power supply is done over the USB interface, following the USB 2.0 specs. This programming kit is not a straight forward cable, there is an internal converter circuit board mounted in the USB plug. This lead is equivalent to the Yaesu CT-62 cable fitted with a 8-pin mini-DIN Connector, but it obviously works through the USB port.
The cable communicates directly with a PC through the now popular and standard USB interface. It emulates a Serial Port but that port communicates with a radio at TTL voltage levels. A Serial Port connection is not needed since the cable emulates one for you. The cable is compatible with all versions of Windows® that support USB operation. This only includes Windows® 98SE, ME, W2K, XP or higher.
