One of the joys of our hobby is discovering a seldomly talked about, inexpensive frag and being pleasantly surprised by it. For me, Yardley Legacy definitely falls in this category!
Although discontinued elsewhere, Legacy is still being manufactured in South Africa and currently sells for about one fifth the price of the average designer fragrance.
Legacy is a marine fougere with a delightfully clean background note. The scent can best be described as bright, refreshing and uplifting – in a sea green way, as opposed to the floral aquatic approach. This fragrance sports amazing presence as a result of its silage and longevity. Under no circumstances apply more than 2 sprays – in most cases one spray will be enough. When used responsibly this fragrance says “I am a crisp, confident and energetic gentleman”.
Legacy brings to mind fragrances like Dolce & Gabanna pour Homme, Creed’s Green Irish Tweed (but much crisper), and even the opening notes of Xeryus Rouge (although Xeryus Rouge’s drydown is musty and powdery whereas Legacy’s is fresh with a slight tobacco-y sweetness.)
