This note is printed on school exercise note book paper

The stamp is a notary and conveyancer stamp from J. H. Findlay in Pretoria, dated August 25, 1902. Findlay & Niemeyer Attorneys, a long-established law firm in Pretoria, South Africa, traces its roots back to an attorney practice opened by J. H. L. Findlay around 1892. The firm's history indicates that Hudson Findlay, or J.H.L. Findlay, opened his practice in Pretoria during the era of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek.

The stamp's date of 1902 coincides with the end of the Second Boer War, which concluded on May 31, 1902, with the signing of the Treaty of Vereeniging. This treaty led to the end of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek (ZAR) and its incorporation into the British Transvaal Colony.

All the notes were printed in black ink on poor quality paper.
