Description:
Clump forming, rhizomatous perennial from South Africa. Large glossy green leaves and bold pure white flower spathes from late spring to mid-summer. Evergreen in mild climates.

Cultivation:
Moist rich soil or grow as a marginal aquatic. Best in full sun. Not reliably hardy and will need protection in colder climates but will survive some frost if covered by a thick layer of mulch.

Propagation:
By division in spring. Also from seed sown in autumn.

Design and Other Uses:
Pond, waterside and wetland or bog.

Other Notes:
Severe stomach upset if eaten. Conatct with the skin may cause irritation.
