Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters

Zhu Zhu pets (pronounced zoo zoo) are a "family" of motorized hamsters which are the latest interactive toy for kids on the market. Their slogan is "pets without the mess" and they are intended to replicate real live hamsters as they are artificially "smart", each one has its own personality and they make whimsical sounds.

They can operate in two modes; "loving mode" in which you can love them, pet them and hear them chitter chatter and "explore mode" where they scuttle around either the floor or their specially designed track. You can build them their own little hamster environment should you wish and they will do the thing where they run on the wheel (of course).

They run on 2 X AAA batteries and, because they are motorized with small moving parts, they aren't suitable for kids under 4 years old. However, children in the age group of 4 to 10 years are probably going to love these due to the way that they interact, both with the children themselves and each other.

They just went on general release in August 2009 and are selling out wherever they are put on display.
