Offered here is a set of three consecutive Zimbabwe $1 notes, issued by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe in 2007, during the early stages of Zimbabwes hyperinflation crisis.
The obverse features the iconic Chiremba Balancing Rocks (Epworth) a national symbol of stability alongside the signature of Governor Dr. G. Gono. The reverse depicts the Victoria Falls and the African buffalo, both printed in violet and grey tones.
These notes represent the Third Dollar (Z$) era, when Zimbabwe redenominated its currency by removing three zeros in August 2006. Despite their low denomination, such notes quickly lost all purchasing power due to inflation but remain fascinating and highly collectible artifacts today.
By 2007, Zimbabwes inflation rate exceeded 1,200%, and the Reserve Bank was forced to issue new notes every few months.
The $1 denomination was among the first of this revalued series (Z$1 to Z$100,000), and most were heavily circulated making uncirculated consecutive examples uncommon in todays collector market.
