Zonnebloem
Zonnebloem releases rare Magnum 1996 Shiraz
Zonnebloem, a leader in the time-honoured craft of winemaking, has released one of its well-matured cellar treasures, a 1996 Shiraz, in a limited edition 1,5 litre Magnum bottle after carefully nurturing the maturation process of this specially selected vintage red wine.
Zonnebloem’s wines are particularly well-structured and have a rich history of longevity. The 1996 Magnum was only released in limited quantities once Cellarmaster Michael Buchholz was certain that it had reached its optimum quality after careful maturation and personal attention in the cellar.
The Shiraz 1996 is a complex wine with intense aromas of dark-berried fruit dusted with black pepper and touches of tar and smoke. This medium-bodied wine bursts with sweet succulent fruit flavours whilst rewarding the palate with ample concentration.
The history of Zonnebloem, one of South Africa’s first major wine brands, dates back to the early part of the 18th century. Today this tradition lives on from the vineyards, tended by the same families for over three generations, to the meticulous craftsmanship in the cellar. This care and attention have resulted in a range of great wines, nurtured, handcrafted and slowly coaxed to perfection, until they are released at optimum quality. These full-bodied wines are well-structured to show varietal character with rich, robust flavours, yet remain accessible and easy to drink with a soft palate.
This magnificent Shiraz 1996 magnum comes in a plush gift pack and is a true collector’s item.
