Description: Chinese signed porcelain blue and white Bowl. Qianlong period (1736-1795)  Ref.B/36
Maker: Unknown
Date: Late 18th Century, Qing Dynasty
History: The Qianlong Emperor (1711-1799) was the fifth emperor of the Qing dynasty. A very capable and cultured leader, he inherited a thriving empire which soon became the height of the Qing dynasty. In 1796 he abdicated in favour of his son, however, this was the start of the decline of the empire.
Description: A Chinese porcelain bowl showing an underglaze blue and white stylized floral pattern (possibly the ruyi fungi design?), the circular foot showing three concentric lines. Signed on the base and showing a Chinese character, scratched onto the glaze on the inside of the bowl.
Condition: Good condition overall but a restoration is evident to the inside of the circular foot, but not visible from the outside. A small restored chip to the rim and a fine crack, roughly 2.5 cm just below.
Dimensions: Diameter of 17cm and a height of 6cm.

Price: R900.00
