Combat In And Over Delville Wood 3 Vols Arthur H. Betteridge
Arthur Henry Betteridge was born in 1896 and elisted in the 4th REgiment (S.A. Scottish) which was part of the 1st South African Infantry Brigade. He fought at the Battle of the Somme and was wounded at Delville Wood on the 18th of July 1916. After a period of recuperation he transferred to the Royal Flying Corp and retrained as a pilot and was posted No 3 Squadron flying Sopworth Camels where he served under Ronald McClintock (who, along with plenty of other pilots such as N S Smuts and Curtis Kinney are mentioned in the book). The book is illustrated with reproduced photographs and maps.
Arthur Betteridge died in 1983.
The 1st edition was published in 1974 as a single volume and reissued in 1986 in 3 volumes. Both print runs were very small so it is a scarce book.
Condition: Very Good
Volume 1 appears to have been signed by Ernest Slatter who wrote the foreword to the 1986 edition.
