Wedgwood 'Kruger National Park' (Springbok) Plate
This early, ivory glazed porcelain wall plate with a 'springbok' in the centre, is from a 1st edition series of six 'Kruger National Park' collectors plates that were produced in England by the well-known 'Wedgwood' factory. The plate is decorated with black and grey transfer printed scenes from camera studies by 'Dick Woolf, C.P. de L. Beyers and P.W. Willis', and the magnificent borders were designed by 'Hilda Stevenson-Hamilton' the wife of the first warden of Kruger National Park, 'Col. James Stevenson-Hamilton'. The plate is in excellent condition and has some lovely details on the back explaining the history of these plates, including a map of the National Park, as well as the 'Wedgwood' backstamp. It has a diameter of 27,5cm.
