An EXCELLENT example of a RARE- South African Police, Colonial Silver 1930s Long Service " Getroue Diens" Variant Medal. This piece appears to be in a VF state , with detailed Relief on obverse and reverse. All parts present and original Ribbon. The Type II Award was produced by the South African Mint and the incorrect or defective legend was placed on the reverse. When noted- this error was rectified and replaced with " Troue Diens" .Minimal Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface.
Most copies of this Variant Medal were recalled - being the most sought after of all Colonial Police Service Awards.
