An EXCELLENT example of Burmese Mid-20th Century Tribal 'Dha' Sword with Wooden Scabbard. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed engraved Relief on blade obverse. All parts appear present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Sword blade is exceptionally sharp & retains a cutting edge. Handle has been hand-carved and features decorative copper fittings and the Scabbard displays Woven rattan ornamentation.
A piece such as this, has formed part of South-East Asian Culture since the 13th Century AD ; and has been depicted in the Temple reliefs of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. This traditional Sword features a unique ' upswept tip ' design often engraved with religious symbols.
