Product OverviewThe MAX13085EEPA+ is a 5V, ±15KV ESD-protected, fail-safe, hot-swap, RS485/RS422transceiver in 8 pin DIP package. The transceiver features one driver and onereceiver, it includes fail-safe circuitry, gives a logic-high receiver outputwhen receiver inputs are open or shorted. The receiver outputs logic-high if alltransmitters on a terminated bus are disabled (high impedance). It includes ahot-swap capability to eliminate false transitions on the bus during power-up orhot insertion. It is ideal for half-duplex communications and it draws 1.2mA ofsupply current when unloaded or when fully loaded with the drivers disabled.
