Set the language for menus and messages on the LCD monitor from 25 languages by selecting [Language] in the “Set up Menu”.

Shutter speed is 15–1/2000 sec. This camera applies special processing to images shot at shutter speeds slower than 1.3 seconds to eliminate the noise. The fastest shutter speed for flash synchronization is 1/500 second.

Exposure Control
The settings can be adjusted in 1/3 stops in the range -2 to +2. Adjust the exposure compensation to a positive value to avoid making the subject too dark when it is backlit or shot against a bright background. Adjust the exposure compensation to a negative value to avoid making the subject too bright in night shots or when shot against a dark background.
Metering Methods
Evaluative Appropriate for standard shooting conditions, including backlit scenes. The camera divides images into several zones for metering. It evaluates complex lighting conditions, such as the position of the subject, the brightness, the direct light, and the backlighting, and adjusts the settings to the correct exposure for the main subject.
Center Weighted Average Averages the light metered from the entire frame, but gives greater weight to the subject matter at the center.
Spot Meters the area within the spot AE point frame. The frame can be selected from Center and AF Point.
Adjusting the ISO Speed (Auto)
Auto Selecting Auto sets the optimal ISO speed according to the light level when shooting. Since the ISO speed setting will automatically be raised in dark places, the camera will select a faster shutter speed and reduce the chances of camera shake.
White Balance
Normally, the Auto white balance setting selects an optimal white balance. When the Auto setting cannot produce natural looking colors, change the white balance using a setting appropriate for the light source.

Custom You can set a custom white balance to obtain the optimal setting for the shooting conditions by having the camera evaluate an object, such as a piece of white paper or cloth.

This camera uses an SD memory card, SDHC memory card or MultiMediaCard as the recording media. A memory card is included in the package. However, you may not be able to achieve the full performance of this camera with the included memory card.

Playback Modes
Start playback with the image that was last displayed during the last playback session (Resume Playback). However, this image is reset when new images have been shot, when a memorycard has been edited on a computer or when another memorycard has been inserted, in which case playback starts with the image shot last.
