Herbal Tea for Cold & Flu. Immune system support, promotes sweating and thus reduces fevers, calms dry coughs and soothes sore throats, relieves nasal congestion, expectorant (removes mucus and phlegm from the respiratory tract), soothes sore and inflamed membranes in the lungs.
Our product includes Echinacea, Rosehip, Yarrow and Elder Flowers. Elder Flowers are expectorant and like Yarrow promote sweating, thereby reducing fevers. Echinacea is mostly used to boost the immune system and is an effective remedy for influenza, colds and upper respiratory tract infections. Rosehips have such high Vitamin C content that they can effectively boost the immune system.
The formulation includes a number of herbs which are known to be beneficial for immune system support and treating cold and flu symptoms to maximise the efficacy of the product.
Dosage:
1 teaspoon of dried herb infused into a cup of hot water. Strain and drink. Sweet with honey to taste if required. Repeat 3 times a day as required.
Cautions:
- Use at first sign of illness, but no longer than 2 weeks at a time.
- Talk to your doctor before taking echinacea if you have an auto-immune illness such as lupus, or a progressive disease such as multiple sclerosis, HIV/Aids, tuberculosis, or if you are taking any immuno-suppressants.
- Do not use if you are allergic to sunflowers or related species.
- Excessive consumption may cause throat irritation.
- High doses can cause headaches, nausea and dizziness.
- Excessive doses can render males infertile whilst taking, effects will be reversed once substance leaves your system.
- Don't use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Marshmallow lowers blood sugar levels, so may interfere with medications being used to control blood-sugar levels, such as insulin for diabetes.
- Yarrow acts as a photosensitizer, so avoid exposure to sunlight whilst taking the tea.
- May interact with anticoagulant and antihypertensive medications.
- Yarrow has sedative and diuretic effects.
- Excessive or prolonged use of Elder Flower causes Potassium loss via the urine.
- Do not use if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients - if allergic reaction occurs discontinue use.
- Keep out of reach of children.
