Dracula by Bram Stoker

Archibald Constable, Westminster, 1904, 8th edition, hardcover, 390pp.

This is an extremely scarce copy of the 8th edition, in the navy boards with red cover motif (one of three variants).

Condition: endpapers clear, no inscriptions except for a pen signature across the top of page 1 ('W. Isaacs'). The binding is tender, this being a well-read copy, with occasional finger smudging and light foxing. Certain gatherings are loose but not cracked, a case in point being pp. 240/241 where thumbing of the centre margin is evident. Later gatherings are tight. The bottom edge is uncut, the corners are lightly bumped and frayed, and a two-and-a-half inch lower portion of the spine is missing due to possible insect/rodent damage: this will need some restoration. The upper spine is mottled with the gilt title and author name being affected. Upper and lower edges of the front board are also lightly marked.
