IN THOSE DAYS THEY FILLED UP THE BEACH AND RECLAIMED LAND TO STOP THE SEA TO GET TO THE CASTLE OF GOOD HOPE. HERE YOU CAN SEE THE TYPE OF BORDER THAT WAS CREATED TO PUSH THE SEA BACK. ALSO NOTICE THE SAILING SHIP THAT IS ANCHORED IN TABLE BAY ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE PAINTING.
