Horses and Riding in Southern Africa, by Pamela Struben (Ed.). Published by Purnell & Sons, 1966.
Illustrated with black-and-white photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, maps and tables.
Hardback with jacket, 287pp. Ex-Library. Condition: Poor.
Boards still reasonably clean, bright and crisp--a couple of insignificant markings only. Gilt lettering on spine intact, bright and crisp. Light rubbing to corners. Library stickers removed, leaving a sticker ghost on pastedown and residue on front free endpaper. Mild foxing to rear endpapers. Half-title and opposite page foxed. Library stamp and markings on copyrights page and opposite contents page. Foxing throughout text block--mostly faint. Some photographic plates have left faint impressions of gray on the opposite page. Similarly two instances where pages have stuck to one another and resulted in the lifting off of small patches of paper from one page and leaving it stuck on opposite page: pp. 186-187; 212-213. Large pale brown stain p. 259-260. Aside from the library markings there are no inscriptions, no underlining or highlighting, no annotations or marginalia. Binding is secure, no loose or missing pages.
Jacket condition. Poor. Heavy shelf-wear: Foxed, rubbed, scuffed and creased along the edges and the hinges. Closed tears with some chipping into upper and lower edges. Rubbed and scuffed along the hinges, with chips off the outer coloured layer of the wraps. Library sticker on the spine. Water stain to hinge of rear flap. Inside foxed.
