Johnathan Martin & No Quarter are a rock band from Pretoria, South Africa. With both frontman Johnathan and bassist Tertius Du Plessis hailing from the legendary Jack Hammer (over a decade of hard touring and album making), JM and No Quarter has no shortage of blood and sweat to draw from. Formed over a period of a year, with Johnathan and brother Aidan Martin first doing acoustic gigs to test the waters and later adding Tertius and drummer Leslie Stuart, the band has grown from an impressive duo to a full-bore rock act developing a following in every venue they frequent. With a style that boldly salutes both old-school (such as Neil Young, Allman Bros and Led Zep), as well as the blistering power of Soundgarden, Rage, Tool and more, with a fair helping of world-music thrown in (Ali Farka Toure is cited as a major influence), Johnathan Martin and No Quarter have created an album that is more akin to a musical journey than to a commercial rock venture. The songs are long, the arrangements are big and beautiful, and the message has no mention of "baby" or "party tonight" anywhere "In My Blood" was recorded at One Big Room Studios, South Africa, on a three-month part-time schedule, and was produced by Johnathan Martin and producer/engineer Ludwig Bouwer. It is worth noting that most of the acoustic guitars and lead vocals were first and second takes - a rare thing in music production these days.
