Specifications - How to Level Surfaces

Here are some common ways to level surfaces, whether horizontal or vertical:

  1. Use a Round Object:

    • This is a simple method for leveling horizontal surfaces.
    • How to Use: Place a round ball on top of the horizontal object you want to level. If the ball stays in place, the surface is level.
    • Note: This method does not work for vertical surfaces.
  2. Use a Square:

    • This method works for both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
    • How to Use:
      • To level a horizontal surface, ensure the vertical surface is already plumb.
      • To plumb a vertical surface, make sure the horizontal surface is already leveled.
      • Why: A square measures 90-degree angles, ensuring both surfaces are at right angles to each other.
  3. Measure from a Reference Point:

    • If you have a level floor (or surface) to work from, you can measure the distance from the floor to both sides of the object you are leveling.
    • How to Use:
      • For example, measure the height from the floor to both sides of a cabinet or drawer.
      • If one side is higher than the other, it indicates the object is not level.
