Map of Arabia, Persia, etc., 1924.
Central fold. Very good condition.
In 1924, there were still significant areas of Arabia that remained largely unexplored or only sparsely documented by outsidersespecially Western geographers, archaeologists, and political powers. While much of the coastal and more accessible parts of Arabia had been mapped or visited by that time, the interior regions, particularly the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali, shown in this map) and parts of northern and central Najd, remained mysterious and largely uncharted.
Large map, measuring 45 x 36 cm, including narrow margins.
Extracted from The Citizen's Atlas of the World, published in Edinburgh by John Bartholemew & Son, in 1924.
A real time capsule from the early post-World-War-One period.
Framed, this detailed map would look great in a study or man-cave. It could be personalized with some vintage travel ephemera, such as baggage labels, train tickets, etc.
