VIDEO REVIEW
Missys Day to Day
Missy titled this particular book, Missys Day to Day, a journal of a year in my life
The video clip for this book review is in a dialogue format with me asking our daughter, Missy, some questions about how and why she wrote this book, Missys Day to Day.
So I asked her the following:
Missy, I know as your mother what courage it took to put your hand-written manuscript into this particular publication. Because you had suffered so severely with dyslexia.
And Missy responded with:
It was actually quite an interesting story, for I had written the book and it had been sent to the printers and in the week it had been submitted to them I had a dream in which I had the two manuscripts side by side in the finished document. On the left-hand side was the handwritten document and on the right-hand side the text was in the typed up format. I then woke from this dream and was quite shook-up because it wasn't something I had intended doing, or even thought of doing, so I went through to your room and you were already awake as you had also just woken from exactly the same dream. So the confirmation was there that this obviously needed to happen. It was quite a step for me because my dyslexia hadn't been known, I had kept it quiet private, not even my friends and family were aware of the extent of my dyslexia. So to put it in a publication for not just friends and family to read and see, but for hundreds, was quite a daunting concept, but it didn't deter me from the fact that thats what needed to be done, and the fact that it had such confirmation on it. So we went ahead with it and Gods hands been on it, and its supported other people struggling from dyslexia through it.
I then asked Missy this:
So just as this other little book (Missy an Autobiography) which you wrote, has had much more purpose than you actually had for it, your purpose is to help other children struggling with a chronic illness, we have discovered that its also encouraged children be inspired to be authors. And now this book (Missys Day to Day) has helped people struggling with dyslexia. We have even had testimonies from adults saying - how they had come out the closet after they had seen this fourteen-year-old had the courage to expose her dyslexia but we know, you and I, that it was Gods courage, He gave you the courage.
Missy immediately replied with:
I wouldn't have had the courage on my own to do that.
Then I commented with:
And it was amazing how He gave us the same dream, I will never forget that. So this book had a lot more purpose than just a little story of a year in your life as a thirteen-year-old young lady who had lived with chronic illness all her life.
After writing my book "Missy, an Autobiography" I decided to write a journal for one year in my life. I am now fourteen (when this book was written) and have completed this journal and I felt to have it published. I have included my handwritten manuscript for I believe that it can support others in their struggles. Although I have had many learning challenges they have not limited me or disabled me as I have proven to myself and others that people who may be told that they will never read or write are still able to achieve what God has planned for their specific lives.
I hope that this book will encourage others and support them through daily struggles and mostly that they will fulfil God's complete purpose for their lives.
