This is a authentic W.Ludolph German Made Ships Compass, with the following markings: TYP 11-15 s/n BM-NR DH1 104B/80. I have had other compasses, but I have never seen one in copper as they are always in brass. This one had a navy grey paint on the exterior, which I removed and brought it back to reveal the copper housing. It has the original small burner for night viewing, although it has a couple of small dents which can be expected for it's age, this is a must have piece for the collector, or mancave. size 25cm width height 18.5cm viewing window 8.5cm. Ludolph built aeronautical compasses that were used in 19.6 in Zeppelins.
