Commonly known as: Peperomia Red Log
Botanical name: Peperomia verticillata
Peperomia Red Log brings a subtle wow factor. Its upright, fleshy leaves are rich green on top and striking crimson-red beneath, creating a layered two-tone effect that adds depth and interest without overwhelming a space. It's a naturally compact grower, making it ideal for small spots, shelves, or grouped together with other houseplants.
This is a great choice if you're after a good-looking plant that doesn't need fussing over. It thrives in bright spaces, tolerates some neglect, and bounces back easily. Whether you're a beginner or just want something low-maintenance with a pop of colour, the Red Log delivers.
🌞 Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light but will tolerate lower light too. If the stems start stretching or the colours fade, it's time to move it closer to a window.
💧 Watering:
Let the soil dry out about halfway before watering. The fleshy leaves store water, so it's better to underwater than overdo it. In winter, cut back a little.
🌱 Soil:
For optimal drainage and healthy roots, you can use our premixed Aroid Mix, or you can create your own potting mix using Barks Unlimited Potting Soil combined with Perlite.
🌡 Temperature & Humidity:
Comfortable in most homesjust keep it above 15°C. It doesn't need high humidity but appreciates the occasional misting if the air's especially dry.
🌿 Feeding:
Feed every 46 weeks in spring and summer using a mild organic fertiliser. No need to feed during winter.
🪴 Repotting:
Peperomias like to be a little root-bound. Repot only when it's clearly outgrown its containerusually every couple of years. Add Bark Chips to boost aeration.
🐛 Pests:
Generally pest-resistant, but mealybugs and fungus gnats can show up if conditions are too wet. Treat with insecticidal spray and cut back watering.
