Peperomia serpens 'Variegata' is one of those quiet favouritesa subtle beauty with trailing stems of little heart-shaped leaves edged in creamy white. Its gentle growth and tidy trailing habit make it perfect for hanging pots, shelves, or cascading from a windowsill. Unlike flashier plants, this one brings a calming, clean look to your indoor setup and fits in just about anywhere.
This variety is easy to care for and not too fussy about its conditions. It's slow-growing but steady, and it doesn't need much space or constant attention. Plus, with its semi-succulent leaves, it's fairly forgiving when it comes to watering.
Light requirements:
Bright, indirect light is best. Too little light will fade the variegation, while direct sun may scorch the leaves. It's happiest near a window with filtered light.
💧 Watering:
Water when the top 3 cm of soil is dry. Don't keep it constantly moistthose fleshy little leaves store water and prefer a slightly drier approach. Cut back in winter when growth slows.
🌡 Humidity & Temperature:
It tolerates normal indoor humidity but does best with a little extra moisture in the air. You can mist occasionally or place near other plants to help. Ideal temps are 1826°C. Keep away from draughts and heaters.
🪴 Potting mix:

🌱 Feeding:
Feed monthly in spring and summer with a gentle organic fertiliser or a controlled release fertiliser. Skip feeding in winter.
🐛 Pests & Problems:
Generally pest-free, but occasionally mealybugs or aphids may appear. Wipe leaves with a damp cloth and treat with insecticidal spray if needed.
Pruning & propagation:
Trim back leggy growth to keep it tidy. It's super easy to propagatejust snip a stem with a few nodes and pop it into water or soil. It'll root quickly in warm conditions.
