Philodendron Selloum care guide
Light:
Selloums prefer bright, indirect light but can adapt to medium light. For the biggest, healthiest leaves, avoid very dark corners or harsh, direct sun.
💧 Watering:
Water when the top 34cm of soil has dried out. They enjoy even moisture but do not tolerate soggy roots. Reduce watering slightly in winter when growth slows.
🌡 Temperature & Humidity:
Thrives in warmth (1828°C). While adaptable to household conditions, they enjoy higher humidity. Misting or grouping with other plants helps keep foliage lush.
🪴 Soil & Repotting:
For healthy roots, use our Aroid Mix or mix Barks Unlimited Potting Soil with Perlite. Add Bark Chips when repotting to keep the soil airy. Repot every 12 years as these plants grow into large specimens quickly.
🍃 Fertiliser:
These are heavy feeders. Apply Controlled Release Fertiliser every few months and supplement with an Organic Fertiliser during the growing season. This ensures the plant has enough energy to maintain its large, lobed leaves.
🐛 Pests:
Hardy overall but can occasionally attract mealybugs or aphids. Keep leaves clean and treat with insecticidal spray if needed.
