The Philodendron Narrow is a statement-maker with long, sword-like leaves and dramatic jagged edges. It's tough, stylish, and a must-have for any plant lover's collection.
Pot size 14cm
Commonly known as: Philodendron Narrow, Jungle Boogie, Tiger Tooth Philodendron
Botanical name: Philodendron Bipinnatafidum Narrow
The Philodendron Narrow is one of those plants that always sparks conversation. With its elongated, sword-like leaves edged in jagged "teeth," it has a bold look that stands apart from other philodendrons. Its sculptural, upright form makes it ideal for adding height and texture to your indoor plant display, while its tough nature means it's as easygoing as it is striking.
Light Needs:
This philodendron enjoys bright, indirect light, but it's also forgiving in medium-light rooms. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light slows growth.
Watering:
Water when the top 23cm of soil feels dry. The jagged leaves will stay glossy and strong if the plant is kept evenly moist, but never soggy. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so always let excess water drain freely.
Temperature & Humidity:
Philodendron Narrow thrives in typical indoor temperatures of 1828°C. It appreciates a touch of humidity but adapts well to average home conditions.
Soil & Repotting:
For optimal drainage and healthy roots, use our premixed Aroid Mix or create your own blend with Potting Soil and Perlite. When repotting, add Bark Chips to support the thick root system.
Fertilising:
Feed monthly during spring and summer with Controlled Release Fertiliser or boost growth with an Organic Fertiliser. As these plants are heavy feeders you can also use our High Nitrogen fertilizer.
Pests:
Generally pest-resistant, but check the leaf undersides for mealybugs or spider mites. Treat early with an insecticidal spray if needed.
