A PRODUCT OF RIDGWAY POTTERIES LTD
The 'Queen Anne' trade name introduced in the late 1940s by Shore & Coggins and was used until the closure of the Edensor Works in 1966. The Queen Anne brand name then in 1966 became part of the Ridgway Potteries group and was used by them for bone china unill 1978.

QUEEN ANNE (1946-1966):
Queen Anne was a brand name introduced in the late 1940s by Shore & Coggins where they produced bone china at their Edensor Works until 1966.  Their history dates back to 1887 when it was known as J Shore & Co. In 1905 a new partnership was formed with Shore, Coggins and Holt but this partnership survived 5 years until 1910 when John William Holt left and Shore & Coggins Limited was formed.
In 1918 William Coggins dies and John Shore (the founder) sold the business to Thomas C Wild & Sons the owner of the Albert Works and Royal Albert brand name at that time.
'Queen Anne' and 'Princess Anne' trade names were introduced in the late 1940s after the Second World War.
In 1966 there was reorganisation of the Wild subsidiary companies (now under the control of Allied English Potteries) which included the closure of the works of Chapmans (Longton) Ltd and Shore & Coggins Ltd. The Queen Anne brand name then became part of the Ridgway Potteries group and was used by them for bone china through the 1980s.

RIDGWAY (1794-1978):
The Ridgway family was one of the important dynasties manufacturing Staffordshire pottery with a large number of family members and business names, over a period from the 1790s to the late 20th century. In their heyday in the mid-19th century there were several different potteries run by different branches of the family. Most of their wares were earthenware.
The first generation were Job Ridgway (17591813) and his younger brother George (c. 17581823), who together established a factory at Hanley in 1794, along with a W. Smith who died in 1798. The two brothers split their partnership in about 1800 to allow each to introduce their sons to the business. Job's two sons, John and William, were both to be very successful. They began production in 1802 at Sheldon Staffordshire, and was to remain one of the family's main sites, and a pottery until recent decades. In 1808 he gave John and William, then in their early twenties, shares in the business (which became "Ridgway & Sons").
In 1954 Ridgway & Adderley merged with Booths & Colcloughs Ltd and from 1st January 1955 was known as Ridgway, Adderley, Booths & Colcloughs Ltd .  FROM 28TH FEBRUARY 1955 THE SHORTER NAME RIDGWAY POTTERIES LTD WAS ADOPTED. In 1964 the Ridgway Group acquired Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Co. Ltd and Thomas C. Wild & Sons Ltd (from Royal Albert Allied Works), and the Group adopted the name Allied English Potteries until the merger with Royal Doulton in 1972. Ridgway continued to produce with marks under its own name until at least 1978. The 'Ridgway Earthenware' trade name was used by Doulton until at least 1982.
