Royal Doulton Jacqueline Figurine HN2000 Scarce (Issued 1947 Retired 1951) Modelled by Leslie Harradine
HERE WE HAVE A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY ROYAL DOULTON HN2000 FIGURINE TITLED JAQUELINE. IT WAS MODELLED BY LESLIE HARRADINE IN 1946 (CORP 1946), FIRST INTRODUCED IN 1946 (RD NOS 846737 23903 129/46) AND ISSUED BETWEEN 1947 AND 1951 WHEN IT WAS RETIRED.
Jaqueline HN2000 is a graceful woman dressed in an elegant lavender gown with floral shouders sleeves. Designed by the great Leslie Harradine it form part of the Harradine Classics series. Harradine was a significant designer for Royal Doulton, and designed many popular figurines including Jacqueline.
JACQUELINE IS NOTABLE FOR HAVING BEEN PRODUCED IN DIFFERENT COLORWAYS. THERE ARE TWO VERSIONS OF THE HARD TO FIND FIGURE JACQUELINE., JACQUELINE WAS AVAILABLE AS HN2000 (LAVENDER) AND HN2001 (PINK) ISSUED BETWEEN 1947-1951. Leslie Harradine (18871965) was one of Royal Doultons premier, and most prolific figurine modellers from 1920 until the mid-1950s. Born Arthur Leslie Harradine he first joined the Doulton Lambeth studio as an apprentice in 1902.
CHARLES NOKES ART DIRECTOR OF ROYAL DOULTON IN BURSLEM GOT TO HEAR ABOUT HIM. NOKES DEVELOPED THE NUMBERING SYSTEM FOR THE FIGURINE COLLECTIONS AFTER AN ARTIST NAMED HARRY NIXON - THAT'S WHERE THE HN LETTERING COMES FROM ON ALL THE FIGURINES.
He offered Leslie a job as a figure designer but he refused. He did, however, eventually agree to send Nokes some samples of his models on a freelance basis and so, in 1920, the first of his Royal Doulton figures, HN 395, 'Contentment' was released.
Harradine provided a regular supply of figures to Royal Doulton for almost forty years but always on a truly freelance basis, Leslie was the one to decide what he would model, and when, and he would send these on a monthly basis to the Burslem works.
The last of his figures to have been released in the series was HN 2175 "The Beggar" which was released in 1956.

MARKINGS: In 1901, the company introduced a new Doulton mark with the lion, crown and intersecting D motif. The new mark and use of the name Royal Doulton as opposed to Doulton celebrate the grant of the Royal Warrant to Doulton by King Edward VII in 1901. From 1928 the standard mark with lion, crown and D motif was supplemented by a date number related to the year of production. A prominent 1 signifies 1928 and the numbering continue to 30 in 1957. The simple rule is that adding 1927 to the number give the year of production. In about 1930 a new form of the standard mark was introduced bearing the words Made in England above the Royal Doulton name and this mark was used until 1993. The date numbers referred to above may, or may not, accompany this mark. Various forms of this mark were used over its 50-odd year life. The words Bone China and Fine China may appear below the mark. Fine China was the wording used from 1973 and can be found on Royal Doulton ornaments that are still produced today. Royal Doulton Rd numbers, often found on the base of Royal Doulton pieces, refer to the Registered Design number. These numbers indicate when the design of the piece was first registered, and can be used to help date the item. For example, an Rd No 597783 indicates that the design was registered in 1911.
ROYAL DOULTON FIGURINES: There have been over 4000 different models of Royal Doulton figurines manufactured to captivate collectors. Production of these figures has been from 1890s (Doulton Lambeth) through to the present day with rarity, age, theme, colour and variations of individual designer determining the value of each figure. In 1913 the company began assigning "HN" numbers to figurines, beginning with HN1. At first all HN numbers were issues sequentially, however beginning in about 1940 numbers were allocated in blocks. Over the decades Royal Doulton has produced over 3,500 different figurines in numerous series including Pretty Ladies, Dickens, Shakespeare, Images and Prestige. The early Lambeth figures of John Broad, Leslie Harradine, Mark Marshall and George Tinworth continue to make gains in the market place. The early figures in the HN Series, from HN1 to approximately HN2000, have basically increased in value. More figures than ever are being issued annually. In 2005 over 125 new HN numbered figures were issued.
