When very young and small, I would sit in an uncles chair by his bookcase. He kindly let me have full access to his books and I found 'Standard Stories from the Operas' there. I would read it over and over. Some years later, he allowed me to borrow it and still I read and re-read it. When uncle passed away, he left the book to me. In my later years, I became a public Library Assistant and discovered the companion book - 'Stories from the Ballets' in the children's library. Naturally, I couldn't take it out on loan and keep it. And then I found it here on Amazon! I'm so very pleased with it; maybe it's not as extensive as 'Stories from the Operas' but it opens the doors to the most popular ballets with useful information as to when they were first performed and each composer. Really helpful to those beginning an interest in classical ballet. - Amazon user review
