Very good condition with bright heavy gilt on front cover and slightly marked spine. . Neat small Christmas 1905 message on front free endpaper. Two fold out maps at the back, one of which has small closed tears.

Illustrated with a lot of photographs.

This is a labour of love by the former Commissioner for the East Africa Protectorate, a man who describes his time there as "the happiest and most interesting years of my life", but who departed under a cloud, owing to a financial scandal that he touches upon here.
